Dr. Rotunno is presently a senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado (USA).
In his career he has worked on the theory and modeling of a number of meteorological phenomena including tornadoes, supercell thunderstorms, squall lines, hurricanes, polar lows, midlatitude cyclones and fronts, stratified flow past mountains, sea breezes, and variety of related fluid-dynamics problems such vortex instability, density currents, internal bores and hydraulic jumps. Current research interests include orographic precipitation and atmospheric predictability.
Invited speakers will give talks focusing on subjects related to the topics on which Dr. Rotunno in his career has contributed valuable scientific results.
